Yep, we live in a day and age when you just don’t know what may show up in your inbox! In particular, what offends most are those e-mails that are promoting products or Web sites that are sexual in nature.
Although I am not offended, I do get sick and tired of seeing that stuff too. I didn’t ask for it; I don’t care about it — I don’t need it. And in many cases I don’t even have the anatomy referenced! For goodness sake, if one were interested, it would be very easy to find these sites and products by simply searching. I just wish ISPs would grow a set and start blocking these type of unasked for e-mails — or at the very least give us access to the tools to do so ourselves.
What you can do is learn how to use a very handy feature in your e-mail program called Rules (Outlook) or Filters (Eudora) . What this nifty feature allows you to do is based on certain words or phrases found in e-mails of this nature is on the download they will be sent right to the Trash. Yes, on the download! You never have to see them — right to Trash!
Until the day comes when the network providers start filtering what comes into their networks, you will need to know how to use Filers or Rules to avoid having to deal with these unasked for e-mails. It’s easy — do a search on the Help tab for Rules in Outlook or Filters in Eudora to learn how to send offensive e-mails right where they belong — the Trash!
