Business E-mail Etiquette and Employment Opportunity

Being I’m all about Business E-mail Etiquette, each day I get reports and alerts from across the Internet for these words. This helps me keep a pulse on what folks are discussing, what they feel is important and in some cases how they loathe the concept of E-mail Etiquette.

One trend I’ve noticed is in the job postings and descriptions I review. More and more with each and every day “E-mail Etiquette” is being added as a prerequisite skill required to land the job in question.

I can tell by the number of unsolicited resumes I receive through my WordPress Consulting site, that this fact has yet to trickle down to actual job seekers.

The days of thinking that E-mail Etiquette, more importantly when it comes to business, is something you can disregard and still succeed are over. (In my opinion, those days were over years ago and the smarties realized that and began to take this topic seriously and hone their skills.)

For the rest who still believe that anything goes when it comes to their e-mail habits, keep this in mind — companies do not hire those who communicate as though they are uneducated or don’t care to be perceived as a professional.

They don’t hire those who type like sixth graders.

Are you a business owner; do you, would you, are you looking at e-mail experience and skills of new hires? Do you take into consideration how your employees currently use e-mail and their skills with the written word? Of course you do! If you don’t, you certainly should be!

If you are getting into the job market, looking for a new job, or simply want to impress all those who you communicate with, no time like the present to bone up on your Business E-mail Etiquette skills and knowledge.

Why continue to be at a disadvantage?
