E-mail Etiquette Survives the Test of Time…

Many contact me about my books being a couple years old and when I plan on updating. I may consider doing so when there is something new to update — but there really hasn’t been — for years.

Being I’ve been supporting, encouraging, espousing, promoting and talking about E-mail Etiquette for 16 years now, I can honestly tell you I am typing about the same stuff as I did back in the day.

The difference? About 5-6 years back I began including Instant Messaging etiquette issues. But even that was around from the start with ICQ and other applications that did allowed “IM’ing” before cell phones got into the picture and IM’ing and BBM’ing became mainstream. See, regardless of the technology used, the very same e-mail etiquette principles apply.

I do update my eBook every year — which I will admit is more of a marketing effort than one based in any new astounding never-talked about-before information.

The fact is — E-mail Etiquette is what it is and it is timeless.

Technology can evolve all it wants — common courtesy and common sense simply do not change with time. And each user’s responsibility to understand how to use technology and their devices responsibly will never change with time either.

Proof in point is Seth’s Godin’s E-mail Checklist which is timeless! This checklist is one that I have mentioned over the years. Now that the link is over 2 years old — it still applies!

Seth’s checklist has the basics that everyone should review and consider before clicking that Send button. You’ll get hooked on Seth’s conversational style and personality in his writings — that’s why I’ve bought most of his books!

When reviewing this list — make a point of noticing how timeless this stuff is. Thank you, Seth!
