E-mail Marketing Etiquette

I get tons of questions about proper use of e-mail when it comes to business marketing.  Some questions are basic etiquette and proper practices, while others many times delve into the arena of online marketing.   What to do, what works, what doesn’t.

Unfortunately, there is no one answer to these questions for every business.  Each business has different goals, business models and methodology that can and should be reflected in their e-mail marketing efforts.

One of my favorite sites on e-mail marketing , the E-mail Experience Council (who I link to in my Blogroll), has a panacea of great information and advice.

They just introduced their E-mail Marketing Q&A section which answers some of the questions that they get asked again and again and that I too get asked for quite often:

  • Is it okay to email people that I haven’t emailed in over a year?
  • What is the average rate of list churn?
  • What is the best day of the week to send email?
  • In the wake of the latest CAN-SPAM ruling, what has changed?

Stop by and read awhile and while you are there bookmark this FAQ section to you can rely on it when needed as well as take advantage as information is added.  Great resource!
